As spring is now in full swing and we begin to approach the summer months there are plenty of bugs out on the water. The big fish are waiting to feast on some great flies. Mid May through June is infamous on our western waters for the Salmonfly hatch. These large stone flies are great fish food and even better angler patterns. Due to the dryer winter that we have had we are starting to see these hatch early on some waters. Here is a great fly that I have found some success with in size 10-14 for smaller Salmonflies on the water.

Have a collection of Yellow Sallys?in your box and you won’t regret it. I found myself on the river the other day not expecting salmon flies to be out yet, but they were and I had no patterns but this one on me. Had a hit first cast and some subsequent success with this pattern. Go hook em!
