Snowy Reflections

Mar 1, 2015Adventures, Religion0 comments

As the clouds draw nearer to the earth and the world becomes a little more silent the time out on the trail takes on a whole new paradigm. As I look around me I behold the calm trees, the quiet surroundings and the peaceful, wandering deer. It is true beauty to behold. As I continue to cut through the subtle trails of the foothills these clouds continue to bring themselves lower and then they start pouring out the cotton-like flakes of snow. The world has changed. The peace of the freshly falling snow brings a new element of joy, comfort and tranquility.

I take this time to reflect on life, direction, God’s glorious creations and the joy that comes through the Gospel of Jesus Christ and knowing of His divine sacrifice for all of us. Just as the snow brings life to the world around us so too does the Savior cleanse our souls to again be white and pure from sin, sorrow and transgression. This year there has been a lot of concern for our snow pack from both an economical as well as a physical reasoning. We have had probably the warmest February on record where we hit 60 degrees multiple times in the valley.

This winter we have been sincerely praying for snow. Thought the warm weather is a nice respite from the typical cold winter we still deisre snow and a lot of it. We need the snow pack for winter ski visitors and resort town revenue as well as for the future welfare of our water supply. Our reservoirs stay full through the summer in full contribution to the snow pack. As well do the crops, mountainsides, rivers and wildlife thrive from the snow that remains in the mountains through June and into July. If this snow pack is light and gone by April or May then we struggle to maintain success in all of these areas.

To have this snow fall is a great blessing and it brought new perspective to me on my run through the foothills. We are blessed to have the snow fall. Just as we are blessed every day by the pure love of Jesus Christ. He is there to provide living water ever flowing to our souls to keep us nourished, green and healthy now and forever. Christ is the source for true light and life of all mankind.
