We had the privilege to escape to Fort Myers Beach, Florida for a few days. I love the mountains that tower over top of the Salt Lake Valley. It is one of the greatest cities in the world with the proximity of everything of a moderately sized city and the wild backcountry for skiing, hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, etc. But there are times when the cold becomes too much and time on a beach is much needed. My wife and I love to travel and explore. Sometimes we are lucky enough to get to the beach and relax.
Even thought the weather was not ideal we enjoyed some relaxation time along the Gulf Coast. Fort Myers Beach is not the glitz and glam of the Miami area, but it holds its own allure and set of activities that make it a worthwhile place to visit and spend a few days. Well known for it?s fishing, it is certainly a wildlife hotbed. There are several swamps, preserves, islands, and keys to explore as well as beautiful seashell covered beaches. Southwest Florida includes many beautiful destinations from Naples up to Bonita Springs, Lover?s Key, to Fort Myers Beach, to Sanibel Island, and up to Captiva Island.
Now go and set up a hammock and take in an amazing sunset over the Gulf of Mexico while hanging out on Fort Myers Beach or Sanibel Island.
