Facebook Making Changes – Again

Facebook Making Changes – Again

Well the guys at that big global power we know as Facebook are at it again. They have announced further changes to business pages. This time I don’t have to go in and redesign my landing page, just get to have some new and awesome features available at my disposal! Pictures Atop the Pages Facebook has now added the images feature on business pages that they had on personal profiles. Here you can click an X to eliminate a picture from the screen. Your most recent pictures will show up random images, with a preference given to the most recent images. You can now comment and “like” as yourself This is personally my favorite new feature. Facebook had always had it that the admins commented as the page, and recently made a change to where when you...

Ahh Snowshoeing!

Ahh Snowshoeing!

Well we have had snow for a number of weeks now, but with all the projects I have had I couldn’t justify the time to take advantage of it. Well this evening I finally did. I needed to relieve some stress and get back up in the mountains. I took off towards Desolation lake. It was gorgeous! The sky was cloudy with snow mist the entire 90 minutes I was out. Half way out it started to darken and there was just enough moon peaking through the clouds to illuminate the trail. It sure added to the peaceful winter field. I was the only one out on the trail tonight and it was fantastic! I love being out and about in the mountains.

Social Storefront

In his book, “Socialnomics”, Erik Qualman brings up a very intriguing concept that I would term the “Social Storefront”. This would be Facebook, LinkedIn or some other social platform providing a business on their business profile page to sell product. Facebook is rapidly becoming the mini-web and this component would only quicken that process. By adding the ability for a small business to set up shop online on Facebook for a small piece of profits (as Qualman suggests, .005%) then any company could take on the opportunity to compete with larger corporations without having to spend thousands of dollars on an e-commerce solution. They would get to market faster, cheaper, and easier. Just as they can establish an online presence with fan...

Hiking with Headphones?

So I understand rocking out in the car, sporting the earbuds on a road run or even a bike ride, catching a bit of the playlist while walking around town, but seriously on a hike? Yesterday while out on a trail run, which I love to do for the benefits of nature, I saw a guy (maybe college age) hiking up with earbuds in. To me that comes off as a very oxymoron.

Working to optimize your online presence

I posted this on my company blog the other day and wanted to provide it to you for your viewing pleasure here. In today’s world there are so many options available to market your business, both large and small. What though tends to be the best? That is the great question. Let us explore what options are currently available to us and dive into the pluses and minuses of each. We will also define each avenue and look at some costs. Traditional Media Television: It is really going the way of the dinosaur (well advertising on it anyway). The infomercial still goes strong, but for the small business the cost often will no longer justify the result. With so many people watching television online, or on a DVR there is just not much of a place for the small guy to...

My First Ultra Experience

My First Ultra Experience

Well running has become my life! I got my first taste of Ultra this weekend. I was able to pace Brian Beckstead for 8 miles of the race as well as see him at a few stops throughout. Working with Brian and Golden and building Altra I certainly have had some experience with Ultra’s, but actually on the scene this was my first. I first saw Brian coming off of Big Mountain down to the aid station at mile 39. He was looking great! It was fun to witness many runners come through with their various methodologies, attitudes, and excitement towards the race. The aid station was a neat experience to see. Next, we met him at the Lamb’s Canyon turnoff where I would take over pacing him until Millcreek’s Dog Lake Trailhead. This stretch went from mile 53 to...
